Shaggy receives the plaque for the #1 single in Germany for
"Feel The Rush," during the Euro 2008 Championship match in Vienna.
SHAGGY #1 in Europe

Shaggy is often labeled as a dancehall icon and he’s currently enjoying just that in Europe, where his current success is sending him to the top of charts across the region. His single “Feel The Rush” was picked by UEFA organizers to be the official theme song for the European Football Championship, commonly referred to as Euro 2008.

On his European Intoxication album tour this summer, UEFA organizers tapped into Shaggy’s star power to entertain the masses at various Euro 2008 championship games. The extra energy behind the song, and its memorable hook and catchy beats easily pushed it and its dance remix into the top ten charts across Europe, with the single even reaching #1 on the German Pop Chart.

Right now preparing to headline this weekend at the Spash Festival in Germany, which is expected to draw about 40,000 fans, Shaggy reveals, "The fans are embracing the track everywhere we go, and it's exciting to see it at number one in Germany. It was an honor to have it be the theme song for Euro 2008, and also to perform at the opening game. I felt the rush."

Shaggy is also currently sitting pretty on the Billboard Latin Rhythm Airplay chart for his collaboration with R&B artist Qwote, titled “Don’t Wanna Fight.” His album Intoxication (Big Yard/VP) was released back in November and has maintained a strong presence on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart, peaking at #1 and coming in at #15 for the week of July 12, 2008.
